The Kendall Square Orchestra (K2O) was founded in 2018 by scientists from Biogen and Pfizer with a mission to connect professionals from across the diverse academic and corporate community of Kendall Square through music. 

K2O's musicians come from over 16 companies and 5 universities in the Boston-Cambridge Area.

K2O also seeks to support industry and community events related to healthcare & education and promote community engagement, teamwork, and leadership. An important part of the orchestra’s activity includes creating events that bring together partners from the patient, medical, and industry communities to support progress towards treatment of difficult diseases.


Dr. Stephanie Oestreich, MPA completed her PhD in biochemistry at Harvard Medical School and obtained an MPA from the Harvard Kennedy School.

Professionally, she works to build alliances with academics and financing partners to bring innovative science to proof of concept. 

In her spare time, Stephanie performs as a semi-professional violinist with the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra and as concertmaster of the Kendall Square Orchestra. She also plays with the Longwood Symphony Orchestra, and has performed with members of the Berlin, Vienna and Graz Philharmonic Orchestras, the Bamberg Symphony in Baden Baden Festival Hall, the Tonhalle Orchestra in Zurich, and at the Salzburg and the Verbier Festival.
